Crews are continuing laying 8" PVC sanitary pipe.
Str 501 might have to be moved 11 feet to the south. But looking at
the stakes and the cleanout at the building it could be that it is in
the correct spot. Will be contacted by the foreman from the building
to get conformation.

Crews have installed water main and sanitary pipe the day before to extend beyond the road.
Crews are compacting the base for the road and laying 53's for the temporary road that has to be open for the weekend. Notre Dame is having graduation this weekend and there is expected to be large traffic amounts from Atlantic Avaition.
There is an issue with the placement of th sanitary manhole. The location of the building's recently placed stub is about 11 to the south. C&E with install the manhole at the location of the stub in turn shorting the south side pipe from 288' to 277' and the North side longer from 193' to 204'.
Cal-Pro is to be providing a schedule for the fence replacement.
Contacted the general manger at Atlantic Avaition with an issue regarding an email forward to me regarding the condition of the road I told her stone is in the road and will be open to two lanes by today or tomorrow.

Complaint this morning due to the condition of the road and the condition of the fence. John Schallo was the person in contact at the airport. Thad at C&E was informed of the problems as well.
Over the weekend the city received over 2" of rain. The temporary road was very muddy this morning. It was insisted the road be open this weekend for ND graduation.
A fence contractor was informed about the fence and the fence will be repaired ASAP and the remaining work such as replacing the road and the installation of the casting.
Thad asked about the pay estimate again and I contacted Andy from soil and water about having to correct paperwork on site.

Trade Drive, Soil & Water Inspection
Andrew,
I am the Estimator/Project manager for C&E Excavating on the Trade Drive project. I just received your on-site evaluation in the mail this morning. I spoke to my foreman Ian Mundy and he was surprised at the report, he claims he talked to you last Friday 5/6/11 onsite and you told him everything looked good. If we had known of any issues we would have addressed them sooner as we know how important they are to you and most especially the city of South Bend. Please in the future if there is something you notice of concern don’t hesitate to talk directly to Ian or any of my onsite foremen regardless of the project. Below is our current plan of attack on your issues. Please feel free to comment if there is anything you want done differently.
1.)The tracking of dirt. We have been cleaning soil off of Lathrop at the end of each day and if it gets bad, during the day. The #2’s were installed Monday following your inspection to help deal with this issue. We currently removing the roadway to install sewer and water, so we will have to remain vigilant in the cleaning of the street and maintenance of this stone as we cross the roadway and re-direct traffic flow.
We have installed silt fence around the topsoil and southwest section of the project as of this morning.
We intend on permanent seeding the area disturbed as soon as we are done in those areas. The final grade isn’t entirely complete. We have castings to adjust to grade and a roadway to install at the north end of the site before completing the final grading.
I will be speaking to Mike Carey my inspector about the other issues and how to get them addressed asap. If he approves it should I copy you on all my weekly site inspection reports? I believe he keeps them on file.
Thanks
Thad Bessinger
Thad,
I must apologize to Mr. Mundy. Everything was pretty much in order as we discussed on site. As I was leaving though I happen to notice the couple of small issues, and I did not see Mr. Mundy around to make him aware of these issues.
The installed silt fence on the southwest side should take care of any erosion from the stock piles, especially if the whole field in this area is on the project property. Also, as long as the street sweeping is taking place, and you have the documentation for this activity, everything should be fine. You do not need to send me your self-inspection reports every week, but please send at least a summary of the ones you have on file up to the date of my inspection. Along with these reports please also include any off site sedimentation prevent measures taken (i.e. street sweeping).
I did mention in my evaluation that there are areas which needed to be permanently seeded, but this is mostly to help in my future inspections, and to serve as a reminder for the future for you. I recall speaking to Mr. Mundy and he had mentioned that he had just finished the grading of the area adjacent to the outlet structure a day or so before my inspection. He also mentioned that he would be scheduling a seeding of that area in the near future, which is fine.
The only other item that needs to be addressed was that of posting the required information at the construction site.
Overall it sounds and looks as if your crew has been doing a great job! Other than these few minor items, which is sounds like you have a good handle on taking care of already, keep up the good work.
Thanks,
Andrew S. Fox

Exposed the water main located in the road.
Contacted Dave from Michigan Contracting regarding the submittal of the electrical light poles. The issue was that the model number of the poles is not the same as defined in the specs. He is going to send me something that states from the manufacturer the Hapco pole is the same as the Spaulding pole stated in the plans and specs.
